Briggs Farm Blues Festival Celebrates 21 Years

For the 21st time, the rolling hills of Briggs Farm will transform into one of the most awarded blues festivals in the country, hosting thousands of dedicated blues fans with exceptionally talented artists.

With four days and three nights of music, Briggs Farm Blues Festival is continuing its mission to provide the northeast with a great weekend of blues music. From the smallest tot to road-hardened blues warriors, there’s something for everybody on the farm. This year features 21 International and Regional Acts on three stages. This lineup is a powerhouse of talent and a must see for every music lover.

Thursday Night Early Arrival Camping allows the weekend to start sooner for the immense gathering of dedicated campers who roll into the parking lot ready for a long relaxing weekend with music, fun, family and friends. Grab a lawn chair and come hear The Mighty Susquehanna’s and Friends play the music of Eric Clapton on the Stage of the Woods.

Headlining the Main Stage on Friday night is Samantha Fish (samanthafish.com), who has earned a reputation as a powerful live performer. The National Reserve   (thenationalreserve.com) will ignite the stage at Briggs Fest with their vintage brand of blues. Check out Berklee grad Vanessa Collier (vanessacollier.com) and expect Chicago Blues at its finest with Shawn Holt & the Teardrops (shawnholtandtheteardrops.com)

Saturday Night Main Stage performances include Headliner Amy Helm (amyhelm.com), daughter of late great rocker Levon Helm, drummer of The Band. Then the sheer endurance of Gospel Grammy Award Winner Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Revue (mikefarrismusic.com) will keep the crowd at Briggs on their feet. Modern and original, Selwyn Birchwood (selwynbirchwood.com) defies expectations with his lap steel touch on classic Chicago blues, Southern soul, and boogie. Next up, blues-shouting banshee Jj Thames (iamjjthames.com) who cut her teeth in Jackson, Mississippi where she performed with the super-stars of the historic “Chitlin’ Circuit.”

Sunday Gospel Blues is a unique show performed from the intimate Back Porch Stage. Gos-Blues is a vehicle of hope and redemption, so who better to headline the Sunday Gospel Blues Show than Gospel Grammy Award Winner Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Review?  Ed Ran-dazzo and Friends  (edrandazzomusic.com) will also play the Sunday Gospel Blues show. Part of the members joining Ed on stage will be; Brett Alexander (The Badlees), Nyke Van Wyke & Husky Brothers.

The Back Porch Stage is a place where national and regional talent take the stage in an intimate and inviting atmosphere. Always memorable, this stage lets the audience get up close and personal with the performers. Among the artists on the Back Porch Stage are the Gabe Stillman Band; Launch PAD; MiZ; Dustin Arbuckle & the Damnations; Swampcandy; 3rd Street Blues Band; The Mighty Susquehannas; Teddy Young and the Aces; Ursula Ricks; Amanda Fish Band; and The National Reserve.

Soul food is a highlight of the festival. Slow smoked pulled pork, mac-n-cheese with stewed tomatoes, jambalaya, fried catfish, and coleslaw and collard greens are offered to guests throughout the weekend.

Beyond Violence is the local women’s shelter in Berwick. Briggs Farm has been a supporter of Beyond Violence for the past four years. Each year, Beyond Violence helps hundreds of local women and children gain stability in otherwise troubled times. Briggs Farm has partnered with Martin Guitars and Orange Amplifiers, and through their donations, will fund thousands of dollars of giveaways during the festival. And don’t miss yoga at Briggs Farm. Begin each day of your stay with open flow yoga.
