Musical production helps to raise funds for families of area servicemen
Sing For America sings for a cause with their production of the classic 1971 film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Join the legendary Candy Man Willy Wonka, from the splendiferous movie that wondrously transforms to the stage, the endlessly appetizing delights of Roald Dahl’s classic book. Coated with flavorful tunes and production design that constantly dazzles the eye, this effervescent musical never fails to enchant young and old.
On a whirlwind tour of Willy’s incredible, edible realm of chocolate waterfalls, elfish Oompa- Loompas and industrial-sized confections, a boy named Charlie will discover the sweetest secret of all: a generous, loving heart. And you’ll rediscover the timeless magic of a delicious family classic.
At the heart of Willy Wonka are sentiments that speak directly to our community where there is great wealth in our time, and yet such suffering. When we window the price of everything but the value of nothing. All connected, and yet so alone, as things are loved and people used. All of this is explored in the characters backdropping Charlie – selfish children and parents. Charlie’s story is real to so many in the valley and beyond. Hardships leave a family alone in a world, as tragedy has left Charlie’s family poor and broken, but his hope presses on to triumph.
This Christmas season Sing For America would like to truly make a difference for military families. Their goal is to donate $5,000 by the end of the performance’s run.
Founded by the Gilbert Family of Easton, Sing For America has raised more than $50,000 for families of active military since 2005, through song and dance performances and through musical productions since 2011.
Their mission is to bring theatre to people from all walks of life. All colors, shapes, and backgrounds are welcomed in to share the theatre experience and at the same time, spread Light and Truth through Entertainment. Their goal is to show that The Arts Are Color Blind!
Sing For America works with established professional actors as well as talented, inexperienced youth. All people involved give freely of their time and talent and are never charged a fee. They offer production experience, as well as on-stage and dance training.
