The Seventh Moon Wellness Spa in Lehighton offers a multitude of services designed to treat all your wellness needs.
Owned by Xandria Ahner and Rowan Laitila, the spa is designed with guests in mind, offering both a full-service day spa and salon and a studio dedicated to wellness and learning. The Seventh Moon partnered with Aveda, becoming an Aveda Concept Salon and Spa.
“We now offer all of Aveda’s signature treatments featuring their cult aromas and rituals,” Ahner said.
The spa offers an extensive listing of services including massage and bodywork, facials and waxing, and hair and nail styling.
Massage services begin with the Aveda Aroma Massage. Stress, muscle pain, tension, and lack of energy can all be treated with this customized massage where you determine the amount of time you want to spend on your treatment. After a thorough consultation, while you enjoy a relaxing foot bath and an aroma journey, your massage therapist will provide you with the best combination of products, personalized Aveda aromas, and massage techniques, including Swedish/relaxation, deep tissue, foot reflexology, acupressure, chakra techniques, subtle energy work, pregnancy massage, or an upgrade like Himalayan Salt Stones or Hot Stones.
“We also offer Aveda’s Signature Spa services, including the Stress-Fix Massage, the Chakra Balancing Massage, and the Aveda Aroma Body Polish treatment,” Ahner said.
The wellness center also offers unique body services like steams in a single use steam tent that attaches to a massage table, an infrared sauna blanket which offers all the same benefits of steam without the steam, and parafango wraps that help tone skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
In addition to all of the services that include massage, it also offers energy work and relaxation services that don’t include soft tissue manipulation, but do produce a profound sense of relaxation and well-being like reiki (a Japanese energy work technique that is very beneficial for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing), reflexology, and champissage, which is an Indian head massage technique that is deeply relaxing with techniques to help relax the head, neck, shoulders and arms.
“Our estheticians offer Aveda’s customized facial with can address dry, oily, aging, uneven, sensitive, and acneic skin conditions and eye concerns. After a thorough consultation, your skin therapist will provide the best combination of products, personalized Aveda aromas and techniques and design a customized treatment that will move your skin toward balance and reveal its natural beauty… We also offer Aveda’s Perfecting Plant Peel (alternative and equivalent to a 30% glycolic peel – with 0% harmful chemicals), Dual Exfoliation Peel (mechanical exfoliation with dry brushing and various scrubs in a wonderfully relaxing sensory experience), and Outer-Peace Acne Facials along with various other esthetic services like microneedling, microblading, eyelash extensions and permanent makeup services,” Ahner said.
The wellness center’s hair salon exclusively uses Aveda’s naturally-derived hair color systems and products, which means your visit to the hair salon includes the cult Aveda aromas you know and love and the high-performance hair care products that will give you results that you’ll fall in love with.
“We do it all; cuts, colors, and styling, including highlights, balayage, and fashion colors. You are in good hands with our talented and creative team of stylists,’ Ahner said.
The nail salon offers luxurious and relaxing services, utilizing the Aveda body products and aromas, such as manicures and pedicures as well as acrylic nail services to enhance and beautify your natural nails.
“We are currently in the early stages of development for a major salon remodel which will be bringing a new hair and nail salon to life within our existing space that will serve our guests much better as we grow,” Ahner said.
The studio offers classes including yoga, meditation, exercise, and various workshops. Total Body Tone is a Barre-inspired workout that also includes movements from ballet and pilates to help tone the entire body – Monday nights at 5 p.m. ($15) , Rejuvenating Yoga at 6 p.m. ($6) is the perfect half-hour night-cap. Gentle Flow Yoga on Tuesday’s and Friday’s at 10 a.m. ($10) are relaxing and rejuvenating. Yoga with Jo on Thursday night’s at 6 p.m. ($7) is perfect for the athletic yogi.
It also hosts a monthly full-moon gathering, Luna Sub Rosa, which includes astrological conversation, meditation, mantra and magic to wield the energy of the lunar portal.
“We are soon bringing Qi Gong classes back to our schedule,” Ahner said.
It also opened the Coffee Cellar Café last month where it is offering handcrafted espresso drinks, teas, matcha, and light bites and baked goods that tailor to a variety of dietary needs and restrictions including GF, DF, and Paleo options.
Xandria always dreamed of being an entrepreneur and found her calling with massage therapy. While she was active duty in the Air Force and stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, she discovered meditation and began meeting with a weekly group. The meditation group was run by a woman who also owned a massage school, and one thing led to another. After getting her first massage, Xandria knew that it was something she was interested in offering to others. She enrolled in the massage program and began practicing massage.
After having her daughter, Xan honorably discharged from the Air Force and later moved back home to Pennsylvania, where she began working at Health Options Institute. As the Director’s Assistant, she managed all aspects of running the school which was a valuable learning experience as it gave her the first-hand knowledge of managing a big-picture operation in the wellness industry.
Rowan has been actively learning and observing her mother in her professional roles since she was very young, often accompanying her to work at Health Options Institute before she was old enough to go to school. Once Xandria started the business, Rowan was an eager assistant, always available to help, offer input, and do the tasks delegated to her. As the years passed, Rowan grew up with the spa and her role in it has become a natural evolution of her seventeen years of experience with the business.
“The bulk of our retail products come from Aveda, which is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aveda has ethical and admirable business practices and they source ingredients responsibly from around the globe, bringing you the best in self-care while also managing to make all packaging 100% from wind-power and being completely cruelty-free.”
“In our Café we serve Peace Coffee, which is organic, fair-trade, and shade-grown (and delicious!), Vital Proteins collagen infused products, and Simple Mills baked goods and snacks.”
“We also have a variety of independent, local vendors that make beautiful art and handmade jewelry.”
The wellness spa currently has 21 employees and expects to bring on more staff in all areas as it continues to grow.
Most of its clientele come from the local area (Carbon and Lehigh counties), but Ahner said they are gaining a growing clientele from more cosmopolitan areas like Philadelphia and New York.
Hours for services are by appointment only, but it has open lobby hours each week when there is a dedicated front desk advisor on staff. Hours are posted weekly on its website.
“We are a gathering place for everyone who needs to take a deep breath, and that’s really powerful because self-care goes a long way these days,” Ahner said.
