D&L Trail Friendly Business Spotlight: Glen Onoko Guesthouse

Vintage revival is the name of the game at the Glen Onoko Guesthouse. You’ll find the guesthouse off the beaten path on the East side of the river in Jim Thorpe. This 150-year-old mercantile building (once the first ice cream and soda shop in town) is now a fully renovated home for guests of small and big parties alike. Here, you can enjoy what the picturesque town of Jim Thorpe has to offer.

Dee and her husband Mark own the guesthouse. Together, they have worked hard over the past decade to restore the building, while still keeping its historic beauty. Cast iron radiators, artesian woodwork, 10-foot ceilings, and double display windows transport you. The Glen Onoko Guesthouse has three lodging options. Grab a your crew and book the townhouse room that sleeps up to eight. Or, book one of two suites perfect for a small getaway.

Besides, of course, the vintage beauty of the place, Dee shares that people like the fact that it’s tucked away. You are close enough to downtown Jim Thorpe and the D&L Trail, but also have some space to relax. Very true!

For trail users, the Glen Onoko Guesthouse can be a great home base to explore the D&L Trail north towards White Haven as well as to the south heading to Allentown. It is also not far from Pocono Biking, another Trail Friendly Business, where you can rent bikes and take shuttles to other parts of the trail.

As a Trail Friendly Business Dee also has snacks, water bottles, bike pumps, tools, and places to store bikes so as to make the best experience for outdoor exploring visitors! And not only is she physically close to the trail, but also involved in its design! She sits on the Jim Thorpe Shade Tree Commission, helping determine which trees to plant along the new section of trail that will bypass the parking lot near the bridge.

So, when you are planning your next Poconos trip, consider staying a few days at the Glen Onoko Guesthouse. You will surely enjoy your time there!
