2018 brought many new accommodations to the Jim Thorpe area and Suites on Broadway is happy to announce its rebranding from Bed & Breakfast to Boutique Hotel.
What is a Boutique Hotel? Yelp responds with this description: “Boutique hotel is a term originating in North America to describe intimate, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments. Boutique hotels differentiate themselves from larger chain/branded hotels and motels by providing personalized level accommodations.”
The concept of Suites on Broadway is luxury and “privacy.” Not an owner occupied facility, the Suites offer large private spaces for guests with very large king bedrooms and adjoining sitting/breakfast rooms. Suites on Broadway is the only facility downtown with private balconies off each breakfast room overlooking Race Street’s terraced hillside. Two of the suites have two-person jetted tubs and electric fireplaces.
With this change comes lower prices for visitors. Coffee, tea, spring water and granola bars are provided and guests have the option to bring their own provisions or breakfast in town at one of many eating establishments within walking distance.
Tripsavvy says: “A Good Boutique Hotel Reminds You of Where You Are . . . Often, a boutique hotel conveys a strong sense of place with a look that reflects the location’s heritage.”
At 97 Broadway you’ll find a graceful mid-row Brick Victorian built in 1867, boasting original woodwork throughout. Though rooms are decorated in an eclectic old/new style, several original centerpieces have been preserved. A Brass newel post light at the base of the stairs, push button switches that operate the hallway lights, refinished yellow pine floors, Carrara marble fireplace mantels hand carved by Italian marble workers in the time of the “Millionaires Row.”
Located in the heart of the Historic District guests can park their cars upon arrival and be within walking distance to all “downtown” shops and eateries.
Not only does the Boutique Hotel reflect the feel of the town, it is located above a Boutique! On the first floor you’ll find MMDesign Women’s Boutique. Original clothing creations by Marianne Monteleone, fabricated in the Lehigh Valley, and creations by other independent designers provide another perk for Boutique Hotel guests who receive a 15% stay and shop discount.
Marianne has operated her Design Gallery Boutique since 1994 and her designs offer comfort, casual elegance and a unique – sometimes quirky – feel. Travel garments, reversible jackets and tops, comfortable pants with front cell phone pockets and many other seasonal and fun pieces give her new, and return customers a wide selection. Many long time devotees say they only shop at MM Design.
Suites on Broadway is open seven days a week and MM Design is open on Friday Saturday and Sunday 11-5. Weekdays by appointment. www.suitesonbroadway.com www.shopmmdesign.com
