Locals and visitors alike annually look forward to sharing this very special evening of celebration and fun in our lovely Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Mauch Chunk Museum and Cultural Center at 41 West Broadway in Jim Thorpe. Join us this New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31st, with the popular local band The Bee’s Knees. They will entertain us with their memorable rock and roll music and danceable tunes.
The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and The Bee’s Knees band begins at 8:00 p.m. Enjoy our very special buffet dinner with dessert and a champagne toast to the new year. We also have a limited cash bar. The ballroom’s gorgeous dance floor is made for those shoes to fly around the room or glide away. Enjoy taking photos in our selfie station and try a 50/50 chance. The cost is $40.00 per person or $75.00 for two. We request you make advance reservations by calling the Mauch Chunk Museum at 570-325-9190. At this new year’s celebration we will be honoring two gentlemen who have been active as board members of the Mauch Chunk Museum and Cultural Center – Bob Stevenson and Bill Allison. They are being recognized for their cultural and heritage contributions to Jim Thorpe.
For Bob, it was leadership responsibilities in the Jim Thorpe Rotary Club, the Dimmick Memorial Library, and the American Cancer Society. For Bill, also it was leadership in the Jim Thorpe Rotary Club, the Carbon County Community Foundation, and the production of a video concerning our local history for school and public at large education.
In December the Mauch Chunk Ballroom will also have the very special holiday show, A White Christmas Cabaret, presented by KaraKen Productions and the Mauch Chunk Museum and Cultural Center. A quartet of brilliant vocalists, David Arzberger, Kristen Long, Ken McMullen, and Kara Snyder bring one of the holiday’s most celebrated movies to life in an evening of song and dance. They are accompanied by celebrated pianist, Scott Besser.
The evening includes some of the greatest songs ever written by Irving Berlin. Classics include “Blue Skies,” “How Deep is the Ocean,” “Count Your Blessings” and, of course, “White Christmas.” This show is a perfect way for you and your family to embrace the season.
Performances will be in The Ballroom on the 2nd floor at the Mauch Chunk Museum at 41 West Broadway in Jim Thorpe. On Saturday, December 16th, doors open at 6 PM and show starts at 7 PM and Sunday, December 17th, doors open at 1 PM and show starts at 2 PM. Lite bites and a cash bar will be available at both shows. Tickets are $25 each for adults (12 years and older) and $15 for children (11 years and under).
