The Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation is pleased to host the 6th Annual 5K Earth Day Hippie Run/Walk/Bike on Saturday, April 27, 2019 on the D&L Trail in Lehighton.

This year we have added a distance bike ride to the event. Participants can choose between a 10k or 20 mile bike ride or the 5K run or walk. The fee for each event is $25 with a t-shirt guaranteed if registered by April 5, 2019. After April 5 up to and including the day of the event registration fee is $30 with a t-shirt while they last. Kids 6 and under are free.

Secure online registration and payment with credit card available at https://www.pretzelcitysports.com/online-registration or by downloading the form through the CCEDC website at www.carboncountychamber.org and selecting the Events tab. The distance bike rides begin at 9:30 a.m. (helmets are required) and the 5k run/walk starts at 10:00 a.m. Don’t have a bike? No problem! You can rent one from Lehighton Outdoor Center by contacting them prior to the event.

WE ENCOURAGE TEAMS! To register your team, download the printable application through www.carboncountychamber.org under the Events tab; have each one of your team members complete an application and submit all of them to the CCEDC office along with your payment.

IT’S CALLED THE HIPPIE RUN FOR A REASON! Dress in your best hippie attire or decorate your bike and win prizes!

Light refreshments will be provided with the award ceremony immediately following the event. Medals will be awarded for runners and walkers only to the overall male and female winners and to the first three finishers in each age category.

The 5K Earth Day Hippy Run/Walk/Bike came about as a project of the 2014 Leadership Carbon class. Each year a portion of the proceeds help fund the CCEDC scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded to a graduating high school senior from one of Carbon County’s high schools and CCTI who are either a member of FBLA or DEKKA or are pursuing post-secondary education in a business-related field. To date, over $5,000 has been awarded to local students to help further their education.
