Bartender’s Choice: Stateside Urbancraft Vodka

By Trish KleinSpecial to The Current

Spring Has Sprung!

And so has Stateside Urbancraft Vodka hitting the market running. This craft distilled vodka is coming out of the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. What better place to come from as this spirit is the brainchild of two brothers, Matt and Bryan Quigley.

And where did this all start? In their parent’s basement. Well, that was until their father realized what they were doing and told them not in my house. And so the journey begins. First there was a distilling fellowship at Michigan State University, and then off to work with a vodka brand in Poland.

Once they came back “Stateside” the adventure began and Stateside Vodka became a reality.

The HEALTHY Vodka!

This “Pennsylvania Spirit” uses an inventive one-of-a-kind process. The vodka is seven times, hand distilled from 100% US corn in a custom copper pot still. There is no added sugar, which means no hangovers!

The proprietary finishing process features carbon, oxygen, and  “ultra-cold” filtration steps. The proofing water used is right from the Philly tap water system. The water is treated using a custom filtration system that produces an H2O formula containing a range of minerals, including electrolytes.

Stateside has no added carbohydrates and is certified Kosher and Gluten-Free. So, let’s just call this the healthy Vodka!

The taste is clean and so is the packaging.  The vodka is bottled in hand crafted clear bottles with a swing top cap and their logo etched into the glass. The label is crisp and clean, with handsome typography and sleek white space. It is eye catching! Not to mention that the bottle, once empty, can be used for anything from water, juice or homemade syrups.

Splish, Splash, Spa Water!

Here at the Marion Hose Bar, our friends at Stateside, engraved our logo onto their recycled bottles and provided us with fabulous rocks glasses also made from recycled Stateside bottles.

Which brings us to the most important part. What we but in them! To make Splish, Splash Spa Water we take an infusing jar and fill it with water. To that we put in fresh lemons, fresh hothouse cucumbers and fresh picked mint grown in our garden. We then fill up those beautiful glasses with ice, the spa water and the Vodka.

We finish it with a splash of club soda, a lemon wheel and a sprig of fresh mint. Now how refreshing does that sound on a hot summer day to enjoy on our open-air patio???

If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and say hello… there is always a warm greeting and a delicious cold cocktail waiting for you. Hope to see you all here soon.  Cheers!
