Crafters Union Brut Bubbles and Brut Rosé Bubbles at Jim Thorpe Fine Wine & Spirits
Wine in a can? No way. Sparkling wine in a can?? Color me shocked! The packaging is floral and enticing. The convenience of having half a bottle of bubbly wine in my hand was exciting to say the least. Both wines were just as wonderfully effervescent as I would expect from a bottle.
The Brut had refreshing notes of peach bursting through lemon. The balance of fruity and tart was welcomed in this crisp white. While the acidity was slightly higher than my palate anticipated, a second sip of the dry bubbles brought upon the scrumptious idea of pairing with a wonderfully creamy cheese. Much to my delight, I heard a wheel of brie calling me from the fridge. It was a match made in heaven. Unsurprisingly, the wine disappeared with the first few bites. Oh, what I would have done to add some smoked salmon to my afternoon snack!
The first sip of the Brut Rosé immediately gave me visions of floating down the Lehigh with the ice cold can. If the bubbles weren’t refreshing enough, the juicy hints of watermelon sure were. Floral on the nose, but not overpowering in taste. Deliciously dry, notes of grapefruit, begging for a chance to dance with strawberries. I recommend picking up a pack of these for your next day by the pool.
So, will you find finer wines at Jim Thorpe Fine Wine & Spirits? Certainly. But these wines are perfectly drinkable, portable, and conveniently sized! No need to open that whole bottle of bubbly when you know you just want a glass or two. These wines are also a great answer if you like the trendy hard seltzers but are craving bubbles with a higher ABV!
